The Biggishmouth on Euro 2016 – The Conundrum that is Group F

Today sees the last four nations at Euro 2016 get a taste of the action. Arguably Group F is the weakest of the groups with Iceland having qualified for its first ever group fmajor tournament, Austria making only their second appearance after joint hosting in 2008 and Hungary are in the tournament for the first time in over 40 years. Only Portugal have any recent pedigree in the f groupEuropean Championship but their problem is, despite having some excellent players, they tend to only perform when Cristiano Ronaldo does and there are some doubts over his fitness. This will give the other teams hope and it will be interesting to see how they approach the games. I think Portugal will get through, but I feel the team I think may well surprise in this competition, Austria, will give them a good run for their money. They were unbeaten throughout the qualification campaign winning 9 out of their 10 games, including all their away matches, with only England having a better overall record and I’m expecting good things from them. Both the Austrians and Portuguese to make statements in their opening matches. Predictions below.

Austria 3 Hungary 1

Portugal 3 Iceland 0
