The Biggishmouth on Euro 2016 – Croatia on the charge

croatiaCroatia showed a proper statement of intent in their opening fixture against Turkey. They dominated the match with some superb football and the 0-1 scoreline courtesy of a Luka Modric stunner, flattered their opponents big time, it should have been more comfortable. They head to Saint Eteinne to face the Czech Republic who after their defeat to Spain in their opening fixture will be looking to get something from today’s cacicgame. Croatia with a spine of the team including Mandzukic, Modric, Perisic, Rakitic and captain Darijo Srna have the experience and quality to go a long way in this tournament. After a troubled but ultimately successful qualification campaign (they were deducted a point after a swastika was painted on the pitch before a match against Italy), they also changed their manager only 2 games from end of the qualifying phase. The new man, Ante Cacic, steadied the ship, and has stamped his authority on the squad, even omitting key defender, Dejan Lovren after a falling out. Its clear who is in charge and their impressive performance in the first match shows he clearly has the players on side as we stand, as they very much looked like a team to watch and are a dangerous outsiders in what is a very open tournament.

Italy 2 Sweden 0

Czech Republic 1 Croatia 2

Spain 2 Turkey 1
