The Biggishmouth on Euro 2016 – Group B Finale

A huge last minute goal by Daniel Sturridge against Wales has now put England in control to win the group. As we stand they top it with 4 points, the Welsh maintain second over Slovakia because of their previous victory against them in their first match – they both have 3 points. A poor Russia side are at the bottom with a point.

All four teams can still qualify for the knockout stage with a win, though dependent of various permutations a point may also be enough for some. My feeling is that now England have got their noses in front in this group they need to push on and show they are to be taken seriously by beating an average Slovakia to secure top spot. Wales should beat Russia to secure the second place berth. If England beat Slovakia then a point will do, but I feel Russia wont be any match for a motivated and hurting Welsh side with Gareth Bale being the man to drive them into the round of 16. Russia will finish bottom with Slovakia third, who will have to wait and see if 3 points and their negative goal difference is enough to keep them in the competition.

Russia 0  Wales 2

Slovakia 0  England 3
