The Biggishmouth on the World Cup – bit of a deja vu

Match of the group phase takes place today in my opinion – taking into account you don’t know the situation of groups come the second and third matches, this is the one game I’m looking forward to the most a repeat of the last World Cup final Holland vs Spain  (8pm here in England). What an opening match for the World and European champions against a Dutch team who failed miserably in the last Euros but breezed through their qualifying group. Louis Van Gaal will be looking to show Manchester United fans what they are in store for with a victory. Spain for all their recent success looked very average in the Confederations Cup last year and will be looking to perform better in Brazil. Hopefully the tropical climate in Salvador (temperatures can average up to 30 celsius) will not effect the game too much as the quality on show is remarkable. In a group that also consists of dangerous outsiders Chile and a more than capable Australian team, it will be interesting to see how both teams approach the game. I’m hoping for an early goal which will set things up very nicely. One thing that will help the game thankfully Howard ‘average’ Webb is not going to be the ref for this one, though it could be worse judging by Yuichi Nishimura performance last night in the Brazil, Croatia game!!!!!!!

My predictions for todays games

Mexico 2 Cameroon 0

Spain 1 Netherlands 2

Chile 3 v Australia 1
